El Progreso Community Center

El Progreso Community Center located at 1306 Guadalupe, was first renovated in 1996. Formerly known as the first talking theater in San Antonio, El Progreso is still a favorite gathering place, providing space for events as diverse as weddings, training seminars, birthdays, and debuts. El Progreso provides a wonderful atmosphere for all ocassions and is still available at affordable rates.

Rental of El Progreso includes:

• tables covered with white plastic banquet wrap (6 ft. or 8 ft. rectangular)
• chairs
• Space will be preset. Diagram of space available.
• podium
• sound system
• microphones
• screen
• staff, for maintenance only, during event
• 1 free hour prior to event for decorating ($20 extra per hour)

Maximum standing capacity is 299: maximum seated capacity is 250 with dance floor

Non-smoking facility

Space is approximately 3600 sq. ft. with men and women’s restrooms, serving area with window and balcony approximately 270 sq. ft.

Plaza Guadalupe

The historic Plaza Guadalupe located at 1327 Guadalupe Street is still a favorite stop for tourists. It is an open air amphitheater equipped with twelve food booths, a stage, and seating. The Plaza has played host to many dignitaries and visitors including Pope John Paul II in 1987, Presidente Carlos Salinas de Gortari in 1991, and Senator Barack Obama in 2008. Today the Plaza hosts several events including the Fiesta event “Piñatas en el Barrio” and our own “diez y seis de septiembre” celebration to honor Mexican Independence Day.

Rental of Plaza Guadalupe includes:

• Staff person, for maintenance only, during event.
• 1 free hour prior to event for decorating ($20 extra per hour)

The maximum standing capacity is 3,000 and maximum seating capacity is 1,500.
