JT Brackenridge Homes

The new JT Brackenridge Affordable green subdivision occupies a portion of the former Alazan-Apache Courts complete with some streets named after former residents. The 9.3-acre site is bounded by Brazos Street to the west, Colorado Street to the east, Apache Creek to the south and JT Brackenridge Elementary School (SAISD) to the north. The subdivision was completed in Spring 2009. The prices for the three-bedroom, two-bath houses range from $99,500 to $104,500. All of the homes in the subdivision (59) meet the Level 1 criteria for green designation. Each house is equipped with low-flow plumbing, energy-efficient windows and insulation, carbon monoxide detectors, and low-energy light bulbs. The design decreases overall energy consumption by 25 to 40 percent per house per year. The low-flow toilets alone save each household about 11, 000 gallons of water per year. Additionally, all the landscaping includes plants approved by the San Antonio Water System (SAWS) as xeriscape-friendly. In addition to building several of the 59 homes, the Avenida is also heavily involved with the homebuyers. The Avenida offers homebuyer’s classes as well as one-on-one pre- and post-purchase counseling (see information on this page for Homebuyer’s Classes). If you are interested in becoming a first-time homebuyer please contact Marta Alaquinez or Veronica Guerrero at (210) 223-3151 ext. 29.
