30th Anniversary Celebrations
2009 marks the AGA's 28th annual 16 de Septiembre celebration! The celebration honors Mexico's Independence from Spain with San Antonio's largest 16 de Septiembre festivities. The event is comprised of an annual gala recognizing deserving individuals and organizations with the AGA "Ernie Award," the Avendia 16 de SeptiembreParade stepping off at Guadalupe & Brazos, festival afterwards at The Plaza Guadalupe.
Programs
Housing As the Neighborhood Association, the AGA serves
its residents through a variety of housing projects. Current programs
and projects include: Homebuyer Classes, housing counseling, single
family homes available for purchase, and low income senior residences
(independent living).
NCR In October 2006, the AGA partnered with the City of San Antonio to initiate the AGA Neighborhood Commercial Revitalization Program (“NCR”). This program is designed to preserve, protect, and revitalize the economic and social fabric of Guadalupe Street, an inner-city corridor in the heart of the Avenida Guadalupe neighborhood.
